Thanksgiving DIY

Thanksgiving is tomorrow! This is about the time I always start freaking out as inevitably the holiday has snuck up on me and I am scrambling for easy last minute DIY’s for my table, that don’t look too “crafty” and have a level of sophistication to them. So I thought that I would share some of my favorites with you.

This table runner idea is so easy to do and is so beautiful. All you need is a book you are willing to rip pages out of (preferably vintage with those beautifully yellowed pages and it always helps to have a book that people have read it stirs up conversations) and a craft punch like this one.

I love this (easy!) glittered (my one of my favorite colors is after all glitter) corn centerpiece. It would look so beautiful displayed with richly colored gourds. I collect various tall gold/brass candle sticks at thrift stores (believe me every thrift store has them in abundance…) they (the candle sticks) would make a perfect addition to the glittered corn centerpiece.

Another easy trick is to use miss-matched vintage plates (or non-vintage plates) on your table. If you don’t have enough, again the thrift store may be your best friend today. Run out and grab a few plates with various patterns.

I love this banner idea! If you don’t have glitter handy (or your not really into glitter…) the letters would look really beautiful painted brown or a deep coral orange. If you don’t have time to run out and get letters print out easy to cut letters as a stencil and make the letters from cardboard.

And last but not least when in doubt or in a pinch, use pumpkins, gourds and squashes…lots of them…

Hope you all have a Happy and lovely Thanksgiving!

This weekend my little brother got engaged! I couldn’t be more excited. We (my entire family) love his fiance so much, she is so sweet, adorable, kind and she loves my brother  and Jesus so much. It was such a perfect evening. They went out on a lovely little date, he asked her to marry him by reading some journal entries to her  from a journal that he had been keeping for his future wife (yeah, so sweet huh?!). She was totally shocked and surprised. (I love that!) Then after their romantic dinner, my brother brought her back to our place to surprise her with a little party where all of their closest friends and some family were gathered. Again, she was so shocked and happy. It was so much fun to celebrate with them! I feel so blessed to have such an incredible brothers who I love so much and I feel like I have totally won the sister (in law, but they are just sisters to me!) jackpot as I have two sister-in-laws who are also two of my best friends. (The last photo is of us, from left to right my sister-in-law Tiff, my new sister-in-law to be Kendra & me) I love that! Such a happy weekend for my family.
