It’s a gray, rainy day here in Seattle. In order to beat the Monday blues I thought I would put together a list of things that have been on my radar lately, things that make me la happy! I would love to hear about things that you are especially la happy about right now…Enjoy and I hope your week gets off to a lovely start.
Images: Ikat clutch that I literally drool over, love it! from Bagatelles and Co., Gold Sparkle Garland, I am buying this for our bedroom from Steph loves Ben, Cupcake Trophy Cups (sadly no longer available) from Kikkerland, Wallpaper/Wall Art that would be adorable on our living room wall from Erin Ever After, Wool Heart Me Sweater from JCrew, 2012 Calendar (this is one of my favorite calendars so far!) from the House that Lars Built.
Don’t get me wrong, I love celebrating holidays. Halloween is just a weird/scary/creepy holiday, in my opinion. I have always been a bit creeped out that people want to celebrate all things evil/dark/dead by making scary decorations, putting on freaky costumes. That’s just not for me. I do love pumpkins and the rich colors of Autumn however and so here are some decoration ideas I love for Halloween (and no, I am not that person who turns off all my lights and doesn’t put candy out and I DO like cute/silly costumes)…
I have made the glittered pumpkins (right) for a couple of years now and they are really lovely (and easy). I use a more subtle neutral colored glitter – so pretty. I also love the colored baby pumpkins on the covered cake stands. Such a sophisticated look.
I recently ran across this pumpkin idea in Country Living: covering a pumpkin with wallpaper, paper or fabric. I love this idea especially because the toile pumpkin (love!) is faux, so you can use it year after year (love that!). I love vintage type and imagery; what a great use for your vintage thrift store books!
…and of course my favorite item to make a house feel homey… a wreath! The wreath on the left is up in my shop. I made it from a vintage Gray’s Anatomy book and hug it from a silky black ribbon – I love it! (…way better then a hanging skeleton!) I also ran across this wreath made of candy – so adorable and very apropo for tricker-or-treaters.
I ran across this little beach bungalow over on House Beautiful awhile ago and my jaw literally dropped to the floor as I looked though every image loving each room more than the last. If I wasn’t married this is EXACTLY how my little home would look. What a perfect little bungalow designed by Krista Ewart, with loving attention paid to every little detail (eeek! There is even a Liberty of London floral bike parked outside the font!!). Some of my favorite tid-bits from the House Beautiful article are the pink (!) guest house fridge ordered from the Sears catalog (so old school I love that!) and the designers thoughts on not “…over thinking pattern color” (love that!). There are more photos over at House Beautiful…what a perfect little summer bungalow!
