homeware love from across the pond

I love Lisa Stickley home goods. Seriously love. I am all about finding lovely things for our home that are unique (I love that our home is a museum of sorts of things that you won’t find everywhere!), speak to my style and have a personality all there own. When I discovered Lisa Stickley awhile back I was so excited because her dots are spot on and her colors are literally perfect. I was a little bummed because her stuff, until recently wasn’t readily available locally (recently I spotted some pencil pouches at my local Anthro and I see that online they carry some of her aprons but not her more inspired goods!) and her shop is located in London so her shipping prices are pricey. Until now! From now until March 16th, the shipping on orders placed through her online store is FREE, the details of this deal are available through Decor8 (one of my fav blogs of all time!). This was too good to not pass along, so happy shopping!

work space inspiration

My husband has a new job (yay!) and now we have a little work space problm in our home. We have an adorable bookshelf enclosed workspace niche, which is big enough for one person, but my husband’s new job allows him to be more flexible with his work so he will be working from home a lot more, so we need room for two! In honor of my love’s new and exciting job here is some work space inspiration. Now I just need to make our space a bit bigger, or just create another space for me!

This space is so peaceful, maybe because there is no computer in it. I love the fabric on the chair, I would love to upholster our dining chairs in a similar fabric. I also love that it appears to be looking out a window. I have done time (pun intended) in a cubical and will never do that again, how lovely to look out the window while you work!

The use of wood in this room is so beautiful. I love the wood with the red-ish colors. The large wood table with the metal legs is a great desk but would also be a perfect table for projects. It’s incredible, I love it! …and the typewriter? So beautiful, it looks like a piece of artwork.

I love the simplicity of this desk, the lucite top is so incredible. The mannequin in the background would be a little creepy to work with, but this image is from the J Crew bridal shop in New York, so that makes sense… Those flowers are killing me they are so beautiful!

I love the frame in this image. This is a DYI that I have seen over and over but this one especially beautiful because the frame  and the fabric choice inside is so tasteful. I love!  The desk chair is also really beautiful. When choosing a chair for our desk we decided to go with comfort over an incredible aesthetic…I keep telling myself with all the many hours a day I put in at the computer we are saving on the eventual chiropractor bill. Maybe one of these days when I get our place tidied up a bit I will post some photos of our little work space…In the mean time back to work I go! Happy Monday everyone!

hostess with the mostess

Oh etiquette you are considered so out dated and such a select few of us still appreciate you. I’m not sure about you, but I think etiquette is important and a sad loss for our society that more people don’t really. So when people do show regard for proper etiquette, I really appreciate their indulgence of such a lost art. On New Years, my husband and I thew a sweet little New Years shindig, my brother and his girlfriend brought over some sweet little ikat bowls as a hostess gift, I thought how thoughtful and very apropos of them. I also appreciated my friend Sam’s thoughts here, on bringing a hostess gift to a friends home. Here’s the thing if someone is going to go to the effort to open up their home to you and entertain you, I think it’s thoughtful to bring something small over as a way to say thank you, I appreciate your hospitality!

When my friend Sam texted me asking me if I had any ideas for hostess gifts under $10 the challenge was on! So here are my fabulous hostess gift finds for $10 or less…

According to the Emily Post Institute, it is considered proper to bring a small gift when you attend a dinner party. The Institute suggests keeping your hostess gift simple and limiting your budget to $25 (see these finds for $10 and under really are incredible!) or less.
